David Lee Garza continues to maintain a loyal
following with his combination of progressive
Conjunto and distinctive Tejano music formulas.
After more than 30 years in the business David Lee
Garza y Los Musicales have generated hit after hit
with a combination of easily danceable melodies and
earthy roots music blend of Country, Tex-Mex and
straight up Tejano.
David Lee’s unique accordion style music is readily
recognized. For this reason it is not difficult to
find David Lee collaborating with other Tejano
music-recording Grammy Award-winning artists like:
Little Joe y La Familia, Jimmy Gonzales, La Firma,
Bobby Pulido, Joel Guzman, Joe Posada, or Americana
favorite artists like Kevin Fowler or Cory Morrow, T
Graham Brown, Johnny Rodriguez and Johnny Bush. |
The group’s ascent in the industry has been rock
steady with recognition coming from every corner of
the Tex-Mex, Americana, and Tejano music world. This
road-proven band has enjoyed increasing success on
the grueling dance/Festival touring circuit for over
the last couple of decades. Producing a string of
hits including “Con El Tiempo”, “Hey David Who’s
That Gringo”, and “Cuatro Caminos”, “Te Quiero Te
Amo” has kept David Lee Garza y Los Musicales at the
top of mind and Chart topper.
Their concentrated efforts of building the group
with a handful of revolving vocalists has
established David Lee Garza as a household name in
the Tejano genre and has earned his favorite son
status to Tejano music lovers across America. Each
contributing lead singer directs DLG to refresh and
rejuvenate his homegrown musical spirit for
audiences of every age.
A recent trend in most music industries has been
toward groups with genuine musical roots and
authentic ties to traditional Texas music sound.
This factor played an important part as David Lee
Garza y Los Musicales were signed to the initial
Capitol/EMI Latin label, and it ran its course when
Sony Discos signed them and maintained major label
relationships through the early 2000’s. In 2005 DLG
started his own label entitled DLG Records which has
him constantly in the studio whether it's for him or
fellow Musicians.
But despite their increasing popularity, David Lee
and the band have always remained unassuming and
accessible to their fans. Part of the band’s
consistent appeal has been their always friendly,
small town air.
Sponsorship partners like Wrangler, Cavenders Boot
City, and Brown Chevrolet Dealerships unanimously
stress in concert that “David Lee is the trademark
of contemporary Tejano music — they’re talented and
a cut above the ordinary”. The band is as good as
any other legendary group still on the road. And no
matter how exclusive the band gets, they’re honest,
hard-working group of guys who go out and perform
their hearts out night after night.
Born and raised in Poteet, David Lee began playing
the accordion with his father, Tony and formed a
local circuit group known as David Lee y Su Conjunto,
rarely venturing out of their area. The Musicales
are truly a family dynasty: David handles the
accordion and 2nd vocals; his brother Richard, plays
bass guitar; brother Adam handles the drums; Oscar
“WoWee” Montemayor is on saxophone, Billy O’Rourke
on bajo-sexto and guitar and vocals, Daniel
Fernandez keyboards, and John Cruz on electric
guitar, with Cezar Martinez handling Lead Vocals.
With over 30 recorded albums 2 major labels and now
their own independent record label DLG Records as
part of their legendary discography, Los Musicales
are currently working on their next conquest to be
released in early March 2015. David Lee along with
his Manager started their own Record label JROD
Records, so that they could venture out in recording
other artists. Their first CD entitled David Lee
Garza "Just Friends" is collaboration with 10
different vocalists, this CD WON 2013 Latin Grammy
for Best Tejano Album.
The band has been the only Tejano group to have spun
off several benchmark careers for some of the most
talented and influential vocalists/artists in the
industry today — Ramiro “Ram” Herrera, Emilio
Navaira, Oscar G, Jay Perez, Marcos Orozco, Mark
Ledesma and Ben Ozuna who left to create their own
names among the Marquee signs while garnering their
accolades. Now with his New Vocalist Cezar Martinez
from Robstown Texas brings his youthful style to los
Musicales and creates a young and new energetic
sound.
Noting their popularity and longevity among a true
Mexican American culture, Los Musicales have lived
through the journey like that of many other
entertainment giants. Blazing a trail from Hawaii to
Florida; the Great Lakes to northern Mexico, David
Lee Garza y Los Musicales have reinvented their
sound and rejuvenated their spirit in a way only
they know how.
